There are a variety of options on how to use flowers in your kitchen. If this is your first time using flowers in the kitchen, it can be quite daunting. Here, we’ll run you through how to use edible flowers and what you can do to make the most of them in your celebratory culinary creations.

How to use edible flowers

  1. To start simple, you can add flowers as a garnish to your dish. They add a subtle taste to the food, like herbs and visually add bright colours and appealing aesthetics to your plate. They are excellent in salads as well for these reasons.
  2. Next to that, you can give your baked creations extra flavour and a beautiful appearance with culinary flowers. Put them into cookies, cakes, chocolate… and get to the next level in your baking practice. You might have seen some of these flowery baked creations passing by on social media, they’re highly popular!
  3. Another area where flowers do well, is on the liquid side of our consumed goods. You can put edible flowers in drinks, teas, jellies, jams and syrups. Enjoy their deliciousness while slurping from a container or while taking a bite from a smeared piece of bread.
  4. You can get very creative with your flowers as well. Try something new: fry them, use them as a natural food colourant or invent a totally different way to incorporate flowers into your kitchen. We use edible flowers as a means to raise awareness about the critical state of our pollinator populations. We’re curious to know what you will do with your edible flowers. Let us know!
